<content type="xhtml" xml:space="preserve"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">An application of certain elementary principles in the arrangements which surround us in daily life. These principles are so simple that when they are complied with, one is not even aware of the source of one&#039;s satisfaction. On the other hand the violation of these simple principles will give rise to a feeling of disappointment which is none the less actual for being, sometimes, quite indefinable. The success of each project in my site, photomontage.com depends in a measure on correct balance in every sense this medium - digital art/web site - has to offer. What I build is a collage or an assemblage of interrelated short art pieces that although seemingly detached from each other, in whole, express a complete thought or statement. My site remains in a "work in progress".</div></content>

<content type="xhtml" xml:space="preserve"><div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">-How do you define "soundtoys" ?
Experimentation with sounds, visuals and interactivity.

-On a personal level, why do you make this work?
I experiment with new ways of expression incorporating many different digital and non digital mediums and forms.

-What is you project and your work about?
N3xt.com is a series of loops, with the emphasis on plain space around objects, exaggerated movements and sound.
As I learned the value of using repetitious elements and silence, there came a corresponding use in the choice and arrangement of my compositions. Certain schemes begin to produce an idea in the mind when they are seen or heard, some a peaceful image - a most welcome contrast to the feeling of confusion and unrest caused by a crowded life style and a busy mind. Experiments show that an individual has the capacity to enjoy only a limited number of things at one time and that when this amount has been exceeded one actually sees less rather than more. An object gains importance when it is separated from the things around it- a few frames of a movie take a new life of their own when they are cut from their environment: A new thought is born.

-How long have you been working in this area.
Started working with the digital medium and webArt in early 1997, launched photomontage.com in 11/98 and n3xt.com in 12/99.

-Were you an artist/ musician first who got into using computers/the net, or did you respond to the net as a medium in an artistic way?
My background is painting, film and video Art.

-What/ who has influenced you in your work? (themes, other artists etc)
I love Joseph Cornell, Joseph Beuys, John Waters, David Lynch, Woody Allen, Almodovar, Pasolini, Hannah Hoche, Nan Golding, Boltanski and Kubrik.

- Are there any other artists covering the same field as you?
There are many web Artists but I haven&#039;t seen any websites like n3xt or photomontage.com

-With regard to &#039;soundtoys&#039; especially, why do you think the audio visual form is so key to the net?
Audio and visuals are means of expression and communication, web has made it immediate and Universal.

- What defines the aesthetics of new interactive art.?
It can&#039;t be defined yet, because it is evolving and changing with the technology. It will eventually reach a plateau and will have boundaries to contain it&#039;s aesthetics.

-How important is the visual aspect in the &#039;new&#039; relationship of the audio visual.?
Audio and visuals can now interact in new ways that was not possible before.

-Does the net promote visual awareness that is unique to it?
Yes , it is more democratic and Universal.

-How novel do you feel generative music and interactivity is?
Very Novel.

-Do you think there is a history to audio visual work?
It think the history of audio visual communication is as old as the history of communications.

-Would you describe yourself as a multimedia artist, a net.artist, programmer, or none of the above?
All of the above

-What software do you use most and why?
Html, java, java script, flash, and many other audio visual tools and environments. I use these the same way a painter uses a brush to create work
