Having a completely self-taught coding background my work has been heavily influenced by Maths and Science subjects, their aesthetics and sense of symmetry and harmony. I strongly believe in the inter-relation of things and the often emergent behaviour created by combining simple, isolated [autonomous] ideas and types of media. I do what I do to help me understand and visualize possible solutions for those ideas. Using code to explore them and test their viability against my own subjective criteria, I constantly adjust my image and perception of the world and so use code as extension of my native human language to express myself. My work does not contain any hidden meanings, in fact I chose to publish all source code (incl. commentary) to clearly document the process and thoughts which led to the individual results/pieces. This way, I hope someone else might use my approach as departure for their own ideas.awards & exhibitionsCybersonica 2002/2005, ICA, London - Web3dArt exhibition 2004/2005 @ SIGGRAPH, LA - MediaRuimte Solo Exhibition, Belgium, 2004 - Sonar, Barcelona, 2004 - Digital Showcase @ AMODA, Austin, Texas, 2004 - Testportal @ NDSM, Amsterdam, 2003 | artist artist homepage |

One of its key points, the redesigned backend opens up the database to anyone interested to re-interpret the available information via an XML API and so build new ways of browsing the existing collection in a much more artistic way than a flat website navigation can offer. Several of such new interfaces have been commissioned by Stanza as part of this redesign project. Other main focus areas of the restructuring included adding support for tags (bits of metadata to logically group and navigate any type of site content), clean URLs and data feeds for each artist and the news section etc. |
